 KAWASTONE RISES FROM BLACKSTONE.
Hiplife music has really brought real life into the youth and the big men in the country making the Hilife artistes to feel real competition in term of sound quality and all. It all started when Yaw Asante (Reggie Rock) took the microphone to buzz out “Maaka maaka”.
Things took a different shine when two young guys after completing high school put their pens down and rush to the studio of Sammy Helwani, picked up the microphone and sung the first positive love song in Hiplife basin.”Fe M’ano”. Now you know the group I’m talking about THE BLACKSTONE (Flexx and Kawastone). It was the major hit song that the year 2000 could boast of and these young gems made it big sending waves across the nation.
They clearly remember how they sometimes run out of class and from their parents to mime and write music just to perform at funfairs.
It was after this massive hit that each of them had to go their ways to write educational signature for themselves. They went abroad but unfortunately to different countries to further their education. They came back to Ghana but couldn’t do any serious work, as Flexx had to travel again to the States.
Kawastone still feeling he has the tight flair for music started featuring for artistes like Omama Agyei, Deeinsi, Abada and his voice made every song a far-out.
Kawastone released a single hit into the market for his fans.”M’ani”which literally means, “That’s me” It is the title of the song which talks about the group and himself. He is the Man who uses his head and not the computer. He detects lies in hiplife.
Kawastone is now out with a full and a solid ten tracks album entitled “TAMAHA”which means hope. The titled song”Tamaha (sung in dagbanli) is produced by the man on the block, Roro of Best Brain digital studio. Roro said “Now Bright formerly of Buk bak has somebody to compete with when it comes to singing” Waawa talks about how a woman can make a man look useless because of love. Other songs on the album are bejeti and woyoo, which featured the all time lyricist Tito Qramo.
The album has the best of songs and there is no need to doubt sound quality as it has four of Ghana’s finest producers in the likes of Zapp Mallet, Appietus, Avi Ackah aka Roro and the hottest Jay Q clicking their fingers on the songs.
Artistes featured on the album are Flexx, Lil Kriz of VIP, Roro, Straw of Deeinsi, King Darlus, Tito Qramo and others.
After that long coming for air, Flexx (Kamal Mudasiru) could not put down the microphone completely. He still sees the mic everyday as a radio presenter. He now works with Fiila Fm in Tamale as a Morning Show host and also Head of Programmes.
Kawastone also called Mohammed Abdul Rashid is a dagomba by tribe and was born into a musical family. He was born and bred in Old tafo, Kumasi.he attended Tamale secondary school.
His hobbies are singing, football and talking to women. He is also coupled as a radio presenter.
“Tamaha” is on Blackstone Rekordz. His fans and anyone who wants to take on this album outside Ghana should link up on (+233)244703491, (+233)244773127or  his PRO(+233)0244941892

He never had ambitions to stardom and never dreamt that one day his voice would capture the attention of thousands of people. He never had ambitions to stardom and never dreamt that one day his voice would capture the attention of thousands of people. In fact, he’d have laughed in your face ten years ago had you told him that some day he’d be signing autographs. But Nathaniel Totimeh better known as Kokovelli did not know what his future was going to be like.

In 2001, he released a hit album titled ‘Zaaza’ which shot him into fame. This album really took the music industry by storm as it received massive airplay.

After his sterling performances at the Ghana Music Awards 2002 and in London where he dazzled the crowd with his ‘Zaaza’ track, he has left a mark in the hearts of many.

Everywhere you go, his name is on everyone’s lips. Now Listen: This motivated, level headed and modest young dude is set to launch his 10 track album under Lisarf record label come this year at the National Theatre.

Artistes to perform that day include Batman, K.K Fosu, Obour, Mad Fish, Nana King, Nkasei, Okyeame Kwame, Tinny, Bandanna, Mzbel, Castro, Buk Bak, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi B, Tic Tac, VIP, Okomfo Kwadee, Antwi ne Antwi, Osa Ray, K2, Joe Frazier and a whole lot.

He is going to be a shining star in 2005 with his new album around the corner. He is indeed a go-getter who seemed to be on fire in 2002. He burst onto the scene in a big way and has not looked back.

He is a royal individual in the music industry and cannot be omitted from the list of stars. His self-titled album is something else.

More remarkable is that his ‘Zaaza’ track was already a hit long before its official release. Can’t wait to see him on top of the local charts.

Kontihene
This album is the most complete hiplife album I have laid hands on. It has something for everyone.

The album opens with the track 'Asesa' which discusses life and has advice for the youth of today who think it's all sweetness in life.
'Madamfo PaBeko', which is one of my favourite tracks on the album is next. This song employed the smooth voice of Nanaba T, coupled with good instrumentation and guitars. The current hottest hiplife track of the moment, 'Aketesea' follows. This track is a clever adaptation of a 'jama' song, very popular amongst the student populace. 'Aketesea' has stood out as the biggest tune on the album, giving Daddy Lumba's 'Poison' , a good run for his money on the Ghanaian music charts. One of my other favourites on the album is 'Adjoa', which is a good danceable track. Other tracks follow, 'Wo ba ada anaa?', which sampled the ever popular 'vis a vis' by Meiway, a guitar & vocal mix of 'Madamfo Pa Beko', 'Seniwa' and 'Effeh' and the album closes with instrumental versions of 'Asesa' and Madamfo Pa Beko'.

This is definitely one of the best, if not the best, hiplife productions ever. With very good and clever lyrics and arrangement from 'man of the moment' KONTIHENE and very good production from Morris this album goes a long way to prove that hiplife music still has a future. With productions like these, I wouldn't be surprised if hiplife hits it big time on the international circles soon!

The album is Executive Produced by Captain Rago for COAST 2 COAST RECORDS.
Editing and additional re-arrangement by Mark Darlington Osae
